I guess also they have made it clear that they intend to run a profit-making business by laying off all those people. That should also be the quietus for their labor unrest.

The proposed price for Russian enriched uranium for 2002 is $90/SWU in 2002, $77/SWU in 2003, market-based afterwards. The current price in the US is $107/SWU, but USEC signed some long-term deals last few years at lower prices. There is a window of a few more years when USEC should have no competition in the US, but Europeans are planning to build an enrichment plant here to cover about 30% of domestic demand. At this time USEC can’t compete with them on price. Still, tangible book value of $8.5-9/share in excess of plant and equipment is not bad.
