jj, I'm not sure what you're seeing. My DJX March 103's closed at 2.35 bid and 2.60 ask. You can usually get filled on a buy half-way or better.

This AM I got filled at 2.20 on a buy when the ask was 2.15 (little did I know they were going to take the Dow up another 75-points from there, but I had my suspicions when I got that fill).

Sometimes they narrow quite a bit like 2.20 x 2.30 or 2.20 x 2.35, but often times the spread is like the first example above.

You just have to pick your spot and go for it. Hopefully it will get hit. If they are running away from you, you will normally have to go at or near the ask.
