Hi David,

I know what you mean about keeping that NE liberal riff raff out. <g>

Re: Interesting how folks can sneer at the pollution created by the Gulf Coast petro industry while at the same time utilizing and benefiting from the products produced by it

Well, I'm not guilty as charged. I downsized to a Toyota Tacoma when I ended my construction career. I do marvel at how teeny my rig looks when I park it downtown with all the Saudi/Al Qaeda friendly pig rigs. I've heard that Ford is coming out with a new one in the Lincoln line called the EarthRaper. Seen it yet in your neighborhood?

Re: >RD: There never was a moratorium on plant construction in California.

DL: So? The issue is whether plants were built or not.

Plants were being built, but the IEPA and the power marketers were lying to you about it.

Re: or perhaps an arrogant assumption that the California environment deserves more protection that others areas?

Now you are getting into the realm of Chapter 11 of NAFTA and Methanex. You are familiar with this legal horror, aren't you?

R.

So? The issue is whether plants were built or not. It's ridiculous to assume that generation capacity could stagnate while demand grew.

Generation capacity did not stagnate. The references you may be referring to are for major plant construction.

The mix of power has been changing and it should. Distributed power reduces the need for major transmission lines and increases the diversity in the power mix. There has been a significant increase in the alternate and smaller sources of power generation in California.
