Re: My head is spinning from what's to be!

Here's a temporary cure for you. The high end mobile market is something like 4 million chips at an ASP of something like $250.

AMD's 15 watt SOI 1400+ will be the only part available for that market in Q3 and Q4 of this year (low voltage PIIIs would fit in the boxes, but sub 1GHZ parts won't fit the bill for "high end" in the second half of this year.

That looks likely to shift close to $1 Billion in revenue from Intel to AMD for Q3 and Q4 of this year (sometime in 2003, banias will put Intel back into this particular ballgame).

AMD with $1.5 Billion to $2 Billion in quarterly revenue could afford to put into place the other half of the Dresden plant rather quickly (say, end of 2003). All they need to do is have the same crews that built, equipped, and set up Dresden do it again on the lot next door.

If Dresden could process 10,000 SOI wafers per week instead of 5,000 by the end of next year, it would let the Hammers move to a whole new level of dominance.

I'm in shock right now. This kind of a performance boost was totally unexpected. The implications of this are too much to fully comprehend right now but Intel's future looks as bright as any time in my memory. What a week this has been! What a turnaround from the last couple of years!! My head is spinning from what's to be!

So what does this Intel stooge do after all this excitement?? He goes long AMD. Intel stooges.... the ultimate in hypocrisy. I must say.... the Intel stooges are really laying it on thick this IDF week. Elmer almost sounds scripted.

From a technology perspective, Intel is in great shape in CPUs, and PDA processors - but their communications business is being held hostage by the economy/communications business.

Intel needs to catch a break with an economy uptick.
