Supporting subsidizing seniors or the indigent is not socializing medicine. First, because it leaves most of the health care delivery system in the market; second, because it generally pays private practitioners for service, rather than controlling production.

And school vouchers are not "more socialism". At worst it would be a draw, since we already have a system of public education to which virtually anyone is entitled. But, of course, it increases the "marketization" of services, by promoting the increase of schools and more competition among schools, including between public and private schools.

No, I am saying that the majority of Americans would answer "no" if asked whether the United States should adopt socialized medicine.

Perhaps, but less so than the current system.

A baby step towards choice is still a step towards choice... and freedom...

No matter how much your wive's union may hate the idea of individual choice.
