In the four years prior to March '99, QCOM's diluted shares increased from 54.3 million to 74.2 million. Backing out a 10 million offering in August '95, that works out to about 4.3% a year. Don't know if there were any convertible pfds, stock issued for acquisitions, etc. in that period. My guess is the forward rate will be lower, given that the market cap is much larger now and the number of employees lower, due to the various spinoff / division sales.
