Thanks for the info on the thread. But doesn't that just prove my point that there isn't a lot of good HD programming out there. If only 50% of HBOHD is original HD programming, and HBOHD is one of a few channels which is HD now, why pay for something one cannot possibly use that often. I agree with you here, but my original point in replying to you was your mention that HD was not much better than DSS. HD is several orders of magnitude better than DSS...the problem is there just isn't that much true HD content yet. CBS is doing a great job producing native HD shows. NBC and ABC are doing well too (not quite as well, but pretty good). Fox gets a big fat F on HD. They are one of the parties pushing for SDTV (digital standard definition tv). Like the Superbowl this year...they would rather have many DVD quality channels than 1 HD quality channel (plus a few lesser subchannels). The government needs to get some backbone here. They were counting on the transition to HD so they could auction off the existing TV spectrum. They should go ahead and pass HD "must-carry" rules for the cable/sat companies and tell the MPAA to kiss off. They had ample opportunity to influence HD interconnect standards while they were on the drawing board. Too bad they can lobby better than Enron ;)The encryption debate (and price of course) is the biggest roadblock at the moment to wider HD adoption. Brian
