My college is more practical
They expect a one page lesson plan (or less, if you can do all the parts in less), they expect it to be geared to the standards, they expect it to be differentiated to reach gate kids and special needs kids as well as the kids in the mainstream, and we have to teach it to our classmates in front of our teachers to see if it works. I can whip out about 10 lesson plans an hour- sometimes more. One night I built and entire unit on spiders- of course I stayed up late, but by the end of the evening I had a notebook full of info, and 45 lesson plans- plus SONGS. I love to have songs incorporated into my lessons. Music is a great teaching and discipline tool- and overlooked in many classrooms (imo).
