That explain why its 8.5 pounds. The P4-M is worth waiting for. I wonder how many customers are tricked into buying the desktop version for the laptop.

Re: Is this the model that uses the desktop part? If so, they are basically getting those from Intel for about $160 a piece

The P4 1.6, quantity 1, is a $128 on Pricewatch. There is no way Toshiba is paying more than $120 for those puppies, they're probably paying less than $100.

Are you thinking that Toshiba is buying $175 1800a's and underclocking them?

It seems unlikely, since P4's are clock locked - and Intel isn't going to help Toshiba destroy its mobile chip market segmentation strategy by selling Toshiba unlocked processors.

With "mobile" P4 notebooks selling for $1500 in Best Buy ads, it's going to be tough for Intel to get big bucks for "mobile" P4's.

It isn't going to help AMD, either, of course, but then AMD isn't addicted to $160 ASPs.
