TWY, Re: "It [Quantispeed] most certainly is better than megahertz."

How is it that QuantiSpeed is any better than megahertz? Can you even measure a "1+"? Is it at all meaningful by itself? If there were no megahertz, model numbers wouldn't even exist, because AMD wouldn't need them. The only reason why they were created in the first place was to make the Athlon look better against the Pentium 4's higher megahertz. It's only a marketing trick, so how can that make it better?

Re: "If you don't accept that, then don't waste my time with further argument."

If shouting out your opinion and shutting your mind to rebuttal is your idea of a good argument, then you have been given far more credit on this thread than you deserve. I'd like to continue peacefully, but it doesn't appear that you are capable of civil discussions, even on a "moderated" thread.

>It most certainly is better than megahertz. It is not the best and that is what the TPI should strive to provide. But it is far better than simple MHz. If you don't accept that, then don't waste my time with further argument.<

I beg to differ. QuantiSpeed could be better than MHz if it reflected the true performance of the Athlon XP. But AMD's choice of having QS scale superliniarly with clock rate makes it a very poor performance metric. OTOH, it is not really a performance metric. It is a model number designation.
