If shouting out your opinion and shutting your mind to rebuttal is your idea of a good argument, then you have been given far more credit on this thread than you deserve. I'd like to continue peacefully, but it doesn't appear that you are capable of civil discussions, even on a "moderated" thread.?

No.... there is a point after which further discussion is simply a waste of time. Let me tell you a true story. Recall I mentioned I was on a jury in which both sides produced expert witnesses for their cause. Well, it happened to be a double murder in which the accused admittedly shot two correction officers point blank in the head killing both. The psychiatric defense produced expert witnesses to the effect that the accused did not know right from wrong during the instant (not before or after) he pulled the trigger (twice) and thus the charge could only be manslaughter. Of course, the state produced expert witnesses to the contrary. Well, there was one juror who simply refused to convict. In fact after a while, it was evident that he actually loved the attention of being the center of all arguments. It made him feel important. He would argue every point, never conceding anything, and stated in no uncertain terms his goal was to change the opinion of the other 11 of us and he didn't care how long it took. It was also clear that he enjoyed the whole experience immensely .....like he was playing King Lear and (for at least the length of the trial), the world was his audience. We deliberated 3 days and got no further than what we achieved in the first 15 minutes of deliberation. We finally had to tell the judge we were hopelessly hung. The judge pleaded with us to keep trying stating that this jury was in a better position to come to a verdict than any subsequent panel. Well we tried for another day. Finally, we told the judge that he was wrong! This panel (with this one character) was not in a better position than a subsequent panel to come to a decision. In fact we were in far worse a position than any subsequent panel and felt strongly 11:1 that a new panel given this same charge would promptly convict and pleaded with the prosecutors not to reduce the charge to manslaughter in the retrial. Now, you must realize that this was an extremely gruesome trial which was a terribly harrowing experience for the families of the deceased... both of which were present daily during the entire 4 week trial. The hung jury outcome was one of the most bitter experiences in my life and the only saving grace (since the families were put thru the entire experience a second time) was the fact that a subsequent jury convicted the defendant of murder 2 in less than 1 hour of deliberation. He is now serving consecutive life terms. After that experience I vowed never to waste time debating a person who considered the debate more important than the cause. You know... you remind me in many ways of that character. You seem to enjoy this constant debate. You seem to enjoy the attention posting 50 posts a day brings. You will go on forever what ever the issue is. You seem to think it is all a game... a hobby done for amusement. It seems like a life and death experience for you to admit defeat. I must say I took your PM to me as kind of "weird" saying that you have been humbled in a way you can learn from and that you are not too old to learn "new tricks". New tricks??? For what purpose?? To trick who?? I get a kick out of when you unilaterally declare your self the "winner" of a debate or when you unilaterally declare that the other person agrees with your point. Are those some of your "tricks"?? Yes...in many ways you are one strange dude.... maybe even as strange as the lone juror I described. Because you know, I still doubt that guy really believed in his cause just like I don't think you really believe in at least some of yours. And yes indeed, for me at least, life is far too short to waste on those kinds of people.
