Re: RF Solutions blah, blah, blah.

They are announcing a wide band low noise amplifier. These have been available for at least 10 years. RF-Solutions has dressed up the press release with a lot of buzzwords, but it is still just an amplifier.

At today’s throughput of 11 – 54 Mbps, WLAN technology clearly outperforms 2.5G or 3G targeted data throughput performance by a factor of over 100.
Let's see, 11 divided by 2.4 Mbps is a bit less than 5, that sure isn't exciting for a press release. Let's compare to 144 Kbps instead. There is very little magic to the whole thing, faster data rates require more power or more antennas placed closer. And placing antennas closer is an N^2 problem.

Rob, they make amplifiers, and they have lots of competition. RFMD, WJ, Avantek,... It is the next layer that is difficult. There is an odd aspect to all this in that they are a fabless company. I thought that the amplifier would be a part that would benefit from close integration.
