Immature or not, Compaq and HP are transitioning their complete line of enterprise servers to IA-64 over the next 5 years. IBM and Dell will be selling Itanium, too, though I don't know to what degree they plan on devoting their business groups. This may not count for "high volume", but it's also a very high *margin* market, so you can make a lot of money without selling a lot of units.

You disagree. That's fine. I'm happy to go alone on this theory, but I think most people here are making too bold of a call when they predict failure, as few people (if any) here truly understand the markets that Intel wants Itanium to be successful in.
