I wouldn't be so sure about that. Upper and middle class blacks vote 35% for republicans, while poor blacks vote 96% for democrats. As more blacks move into the middle class, the repubs will gain more of the black vote. The only way Dems can maintain the black vote in such a lopsided proportion is to somehow hold blacks back from attaining middle class.

I think that is a reasonable take on it, except for one thing: most blacks are social conservatives. If they lose their distrust of Republicans, and vote their moral beliefs, a major shift will occur......
