I am quite (pleasantly) surprised by IBMs effort to push Intel high-end chips (Xeon and their commitment to Itaniums). I dont quite understand their thinking here. Wouldn't Intel chips at some point start competing with IBMs at the very high-end ? Or do they think, that its OK to risk losing their chip business, if they can make money in other areas (services etc) ?
