Kyros,

You sound like one of the blind men feel up the elephant. You're absolutely right that basic commodities are cheap and most likely getting cheaper. So what. The wheat in the loaf or bread that cost us $1.49 in 1997 and costs us $2.49 today cost $0.08 then and $0.07 now. There's no inflation in wheat. End of the story? Only for a blind man.

How about inflation in services? Medical costs up around 40% in that same period. Legal services, about the same. The list goes on and on.

But if you think you'll be able to eat tin, copper and raw pork bellies for the rest of your life, I think you may need medical services. And they'll cost ya.
