"Bear" in mind that no one ever actually saw any Uranium come out of Great Bear Lake during the war. Many of Machenzie's statements about the war are in fact cover stories. The bombs were built in Canada by Canadians, not US or European scientist. Neither Einstein, Fermi, Oppenhiemer, Szilard nor Teller ever actually worked on the atomic bombs that exploded over Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Oppenheimer may have worked on the Manhattan project connected with the US effort to get Oakridge going but they never got as far as building one bomb. Oppenheimer could have been responsible for giving many secrets to the Soviets through his girlfriend, but as may well have been a double agent working for the CIA. Most advanced industrial countries, including Japan, had some kind of nuclear program. It was just a matter of how far advanced. There are very few rabid self promoters in the nuclear science game or connected with the real bomb project. Oppenheimer, was an egotist who came out of nowhere to say that he fathered the atomic bomb, a monstrous claim, in that Leo Szilard's and Lise Meisner's science eclipsed his thinking and claimed contribution by a wide margin. Oppenheimer fills the bill of a carbdoard scientist that some people wanted the public and the enemy to think had vital secrets. His clearance was taken away awfully fast for such a supposedly seminal individual.

Eldorado had one mine and possible two and processing facility on the north shore of Lake Athabaska, and also one on Great Bear Lake. There are rich uranium veins on the shore of Lake Athabaska for 150 miles. I have prospected them for several seasons. We do know that the mine at GB Lake had been shut down for many years by the time the war started. Was the GB mine the one that shipped the Uranium or was it another locale? GB is awfully far north and frozen in most of the year to be a reliable source. There are so many wartime lies about, that this might just be another one, for whatever reason. Avoiding sabotage might have been one reason. The Bancroft area of Ontario has mined Uranium since 1929 for the radium content. It is a possible source of some wartime Uranium. Prospectors flocked to that area and had found many deposits by 1948, which is pretty early after the war to be finding stuff related to energy and top secret bombs. We do know that there were many complaints by natives about a certain fishing area of Lake Athabaska, west of Uranium city, which had been mined during the war. Apparently radioactive tailings were seeping into the lake and poisoning the water.

The whole Manhattan Project is a fake. A cover story. They did not tell on iota of truth. There were no 100,000 people working on a secret bomb project at some mountain in New Mexico. Forget it. CIA bullshit. Movie script. I was born near where the bombs were built and it was not New Mexico. My father ran the reactor that built the bombs. He was an electrical engineer and operated that nuclear reactor for a while in the fifties. It was not in the USA. It was 17 miles from the des Joachims dam some 100 miles from Ottawa. He was also a lieutenant in the CDN army and was in the 7th army engineers in 1945. Don't know what he did for them. He never said.

The bombs, complete and workable, were manufactured by 123 people in a town in Ontario on the Ottawa river, and shipped to Saskatchewan and then New Mexico (It is thought) for testing and eventual use. It was Canadian heavy water, and Canadian Plutonium that built the first four bombs. There is not a doubt in my mind that the Uranium came from Canada too. There is no reason for it to have come from the Congo across the Submarine screen set up by the Germans. There were no operating mine or mill in the States to produce high grade oxide and the Malinckrodt Chemical works, or radium plant did not have the equipment to produce oxide. Port Hope was built for the purpose. To refine Uranium. I submit that this already built facility was built to make Uraniuim oxide, not for the colouring salts industry for ceramics, nor for extracting radium for watch dials, but to supply reactors and bomb factories. And when was it built?
