Hi Dave,

Re: He wants to save your life and your way of life.

Come again? He endorses the U.S. Patriot Act which takes away civil liberties, creates the OSI, the Office of Strategic Influence, which takes away the truth, and creates a "shadow" government, unaccountable to Congress, he's willing to hide his self-dealing behind a curtain of "executive privilege" and you think he wants to save my way of life? I beg to differ, he wants to enslave the American populace to a militarist regime that is completely non-responsive to the needs of the people.

-Ray

"They've been used once, to good result.."

With all due respect, what a sad thing to say! Tens of thousands of civilians are murdered in a malicious pre-conceived attack upon a civilian target and you call it "used to good result". If military necessity can justify the deliberate nuking of civilians then all rules of civilized behavior are gone. The Geneva Convention is not worth the paper it is written on!

Now my President and my nation is planning, justifying, and visualizing even uglier and more genocidal attacks against civilians in the future.

If America will take this new approach, then we must stop pretending that we are some democratic nation trying to bring democracy to the world, and take up the Imperial standard without guile and declare the NEW PAX AMERICANAN.
Come to think of it, maybe that's what Bush senior meant when he declared the NEW WORLD ORDER! In that case the 9/11 was only the catalyst to complete the formation of the New Imperium.

What shall it be? Hail George I Ceasar! The Christian fundamentalist will be disappointed because they were all pulling for Europe to take the throne new Evil Empire!

LOL............George Bush doesn't give a rats backside about anything that happens to me.

I just got back from a week in Houston Texas. People told me that they hardly heard anything about Bush until he started running for Pres. His personna was totally manufactured to suit the national Republican Party. He was coached for several years to help him learn how to act like he cared about people!!!

Dave, it seems that the story was leaked, so are far as defining the rules goes, it seems there are no rules just unilateral decisions, this does not appear to sound policy since in Nuclear warfare no one wins.

Re: "Defining the rules under which nuclear weapons can be used makes perfect sense. It reduces the probability that they WILL be used."

That used to be the case, but no longer, IMO. I believe this administration is definitely thinking how and when it can use "limited" nuclear devices to make a statement.

Once this cat is out of the bag, then it changes the rules of warfare forever. Which I'm sure probably pleases a lot of hawks in the Pentagon.

A question that has not been addressed, to my knowledge, since the nuclear agenda was intentionally leaked is what is the reaction of our allies? For starters, I think you will see increasing pressure in the UK for Blair to distance himself from GWB and the bellicose American generals.
