What the %#&*?!?! Gonzaga is #6 in the nation, and a #6 seed in the tournament!!! This has to be unprecendented.

I think an excellent case can be made to demote Maryland to a #2 seed, and bump Cincinnati up to #1 in the East.

I think just as good a case could be made to demote Duke to a #2 seed, which means I don’t think you made a good case at all. Duke lost to Maryland, Florida St, and less than two weeks ago to Virginia. Virginia and Florida State didn’t even make the NCAA tournament. At least Maryland’s losses Arizona (Nov. 8), Oklahoma (Dec. 21), Duke (Jan. 17), North Carolina St.(Mar. 9) were to teams good enough to make the NCAA tournament. Three of these teams in your estimation are probable/possible final four teams. Two of them are now no. 1 seeds.

Using your logic Kansas should be a second seed since they have a recent loss.

Kerry: What's the bottom line?

I don't see anybody beating Duke. Gonzaga as a 6-seed was ridiculous. I think USC could do some major damage given their spirited play and team chemistry. I would like to see Penn have a strong tourney.

Maryland, Illinois, Kansas, Oregon, Arizona, USC -- against Duke -- could be winners given a good shooting day and a little luck.

But Duke has 1) the best point guard, Jason Williams, in the NCAA, 2) the best power forward, Carlos Boozer, in the NCAA, 3) the best NCAA coach in Mike Krzyzewski, and 4) one of the best all around NCAA players in Dunleavy.

Duke is an even money favorite to take it all -- according to Vegas.
