I'm wondering about a couple of things -

What goes on at a writer's conference? What is its purpose? Are there "real" writers there (other than those speaking for a fee)? Almost as hard to imagine as a painter's conference or a sculptor's conference. BTW, these are not smart-ass questions. I am actually curious.

The other thing I'm wondering about is why ANY group would book a get-together in New Orleans and then hole up inside with box lunches for a few days. It seems the writers could accomplish their purpose and save a few bucks by meeting in, say, Columbus, Ohio.

???
