Sharon is showing that the Israelis have back bone but damn, those Palestinians just won't get it!! So please, tell me what is an effective policy.

You kill them. And you keep killing them until they get the message. There is no other way of dealing with the problem -- these are people who kill innocents; there can be absolutely zero tolerance. It is like a roach infestation. Everytime you see one you step on it.

Right.........now the Palestinians are roaches. This attitude is just what is needed.

The problem with that is that the Iranians and Iraqis are ready to fight to the last Palestinian. As long as the Palestinians fight, Israel gets weaker and they gain. What is needed is to bring the war to them, and show them the consequences. Palestine is in the same position Afghanistan was with the Taliban, in that outside forces were paying their gov. to harm others. Al Quaeda paid the Taliban, and Iran and Iraq are paying PLO and Hamas.

Frankly, I think the US and the UN missed a great opportunity, after Sept 11, to put peacemakers in the area. The Saudi peace proposal probably is a peace both Israel and Palestine could live with if the rest of the Arab nations would go along. Right now is the time to give the supporters of Hamas and PLO an ultimatum, a deal they can't refuse. Go along with the Saudi peace plan, and live with it or face the same consequences Afghanistan did. The regimes in both Iraq and Iran have a lot of opposition, both have populations weary of their gov.(Iranians have voted for moderate gov. over hardline clerics), both fear the precision bombing, and both I think would be susceptible to pressure. Now is the time to get a deal done.
