CHINA, Mar 12, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- According to the statistics, by the end of 31 January 2002, China Unicom now has 0.439 million CDMA subscribers, plus 0.328 million registered subscribers.

According to the introduction, China Unicom CDMA network existed three major problems, the CDMA mobile phone supply in deficiency, CDMA mobile phone could not be operated instantly after purchasing, and the interconnection and intercommunication of China Mobile remained uncertainty.

According to introduction, the current CDMA network constructed by China Unicom applied to IS-95A network, which was the second generation technology of mobile telecommunication. Followed this, China Unicom would emphatically develop MA2000-1X, which could evolved to 1XEV-DO, the third generation telecommunication technology.

China Unicom now has already opened trial 1X network, which could not only provide a data transmission rate of 153.6K, but also provide higher voice capacity. Above all, 1X could provide more broad broadband to enable users to receive and send E-mail and pictures.

In January, China Unicom has already opened the IS-95A network, meanwhile at the same time, China Unicom also constructed 1X trial networks in seven cities. According to the introduction, China Unicom would upgrade the IS-95A network to 1X network by making other 20% input.
