CHINA, Mar 12, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- China Unicom was planning an marketing policy that the consumer could obtain one CDMA mobile phone free by paying phone fee in advance. The plan was now in preparation.

This plan would be launched on 12 this month, the specific contents of the plan are that the consumers have to purchase an saving card worth of several thousands yuan, China Unicom would bestow CDMA mobile phone free of charge. The incumbency of consumers was to ensure a minimum consumptive sum per month. According to the introduction, totally three brands mobile phones would participate in this marketing campaign, whose expenses ranged from 2000 yuan to 5000 yuan with time span of three years.

Facing to the substantial ads of China Mobile, this plan would be an effective method. For China Unicom which possessed GSM and CDMA networks, this plan would attract the high-end users into CDMA network.
