I am not now nor have I ever been a social conservative, nor will I ever be. Ain't gonna happen.

<<As part of my morning's pondering, I came to the conclusion that I just don't much like social conservatives as a group.

I would never push you to be one (and if I would be the kind of person who would try such a thing it would obviously be ineffective), I wouldn't even push you to hand around social conservatives; but I would say that perhaps you are reacting to some of the more public and extreme social conservatives when you feel a dislike for them. Many social conservative do have that "liberal outlook" you have talked about in other posts here. I think part of the problem is the more public face of "social conservatism" is mainly people who don't have that liberal outlook. Others who do have such an outlook would probably not be recognized as social conservatives unless you had a conversation about politics or religion with them, and even then while they might hold strong opinions they are open to considering new ideas.
