From this point on you are totally off base. It is clear that you really do not understand what really happened in Vietnam. "They were recruited from a bunch of spoiled kids" is not true. I have also read that "They were recruited from the poor, ill educated, and minority races" Also not true!! Let us just make up what sounds good to us and that makes our point.

Where were you when the Vietnam War was being fought? I was relatively close to the scene of action! Were you? Or were you still in diapers or still not yet a twinkle in your daddy's or mommy's eye?

I have friends (some got killed; oh, bless their souls) who underwent training and told me all about it. I suppose, given your display of ignorance, you would also deny that there were no acts of sabotage by Americans against their own war materiél (for example, the warship, Forrestal, was sabotaged by an American serviceman.)

I think it is you who should bone up on your history. In Canada I have befriended and helped some draft-dodgers. While in the U.S., I have talked to graduate students at American universities and I have worked with American Peace Corps. overseas. I know what I am talking about. Perhaps you did read something. Maybe it was all "whitewashed" stuff or "sanitized" stuff or "make-you-feel-good" stuff. In short, distorted stuff to make America look respectable in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.
