I actually served in Vietnam, so I think that I was more than a twinkle in my daddy's eye!! I had graduated from college, was married, and had a child, so I was old enough to know better. I was one of those that was asked to go over the big pond as we called it to serve in country. When I came home, I did not talk about it for 30 years. Now I can. I do know what happened, and what the soldiers went through. In case you think that I was "really not involved", I served in the 2/12 infantry regiment in the 25th infantry division as an 11 Bravo. That is light weapons infantry for the uninformed. I was with the unit that went into Cambodia. This is all more than you really need to know, but I do think that I speak from true experience about this horrible WAR. (Police Action) as some call it. 50,000 of us died to fight a war that nobody wanted, and who thought that we were baby killers, war mongering soles, and just shot our own kind. Yes, there was some of that, but it was certainly not what was really occurring over there, and it was the exception and not the rule. Draft dodgers I respect. I too almost went to Canada. Maybe I would have met up with you there, but I decided that I would do something for my country even if I did not believe in what they were doing. I did not get my information from the graduate students of American universities or the American Peace Corps. What I saw was not whitewashed or sanitized. It certainly did not make me feel good, but it was not distorted. Sorry to carry on so long, and be OT, but could not let this go unanswered. Terry
