Nokia and MMS- After listening to the Nok presentation for nearly four hours, the good thing I see from Nokia is their emphasis on MMS (sending pictures taken with phone).

It appears that Nokia see's this as a killer app for new phones. They pointed out that users must be able to "easily send" pictures to other phone users and email addresses. Nokia appears to be busting there butts to get this feature working. They went into quite amount of detail and appear to know what they are doing and where they are going with it. I can only hope that the cdma crowd is working as hard to get this feature out in time for the 1X launches.

In the Robbie Stephens investor conf a few weeks ago they said (I can't read me own notes well, sorry so this may not be quite right) but they expect something like 7.5 Billion SMS's in 02 to be sent. They said that 50% of their phones will be MMS capable by eoy 02.

If MMSing catches on and is easy, there is definitely money to be made.

P.S. Don't know the status of the U.S. Auctions post the Nextwave decision, but I assume that nothing will happen there until the Supreme Court makes that decision.
