SAN FRANCISCO, Mar 13, 2002 (AFX-UK via COMTEX) -- Intel Corp said it still expects capital spending in 2002 to fall to approximately 5.5 bln usd from 7.3 bln in 2001.
The decrease is a result of improved capital efficiency expected with its move to larger wafer manufacturing, the company said in its annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the filing, Intel warned that if market demand does pick up and "move rapidly to higher-performance products", the rate of capital spending could be reduced.
