Unfortunately, the Beltway crowd is still in the Malthusian WWI/WWII mentality of wealth and glory through petroleum and explosions. I don't agree at all. In fact, it was specifically because they weren't of such mentality that everyone now is blaming them for being so lax. More appropriately, the Beltway crowd has joined "la la land," for years now. The "petroleum explosion" at the Pentagon on 9/11 seems to be something that you easily dismiss as a one-time event, without further concern. Wishful thinking, at best; arguably delusional, given all the evidence. Denial isn't a river in Egypt.
