Milo,

Good pictures. The die looks noticeably smaller compared to Palomino.

At the end of original reference site they have this interesting news:

Autre processeur attendu, l'Athlon SFF.

My translation: The other awaited CPU, the SFF Athlon (Small Form Factor) for mini-PC. This processor need not HSF. The 1500+ SSF is already available in Asia and should be in Europe soon.

Aren't these the photos from last November, 2001 (note the /nov/ in the URL) ?
As I recall, these were determined to be non-functional devices at that time, were they not?

Re: The principal innovation of this processor is its smoothness of engraving in 0,13 micron which enables him to release less heat and thus to make it possible to reach higher frequencies

There's a lot more to it than that. Palomino can barely run at 2.2GHZ while submerged in LN2.

Milo, Re: <As of today over in Germany, they have demonstrated a TBred core "2800+".>

Excellent.

That's what I expected back on Tuesday -- when we got the downgrade instead. In retrospect, I should well have known that the big announcements come late in the show( and held off a day ).
