Rich, in searching for an answerto your ealier question I came acroos this. Note the chart in the upper left hand cornner. As you say, assults in England are indeed "off the Charts"

According to the survey hand guns were used 1.9 million times a year in the US to stop a crime. Now using your formula of 1,000 gun crimes to 1 were a gun was used in defense, which you claimed to have a URL for but didn't post, that would mean 1.9 billion people were gunned down in the US last year.
