The Swiss army now use an atomic jacknife as standard issue for their regular troops. If folds down into a critical mass and explodes with great precision. The soldiers have also been issued with inflammable beer, so that they can drink it and spew flame at a potential enemy. Their bicycles have been replaced with motorized levitational scooters. Side arm is now a mini-gat with 12 barrels that launches 1.8 cm shaped-charge rockets. They no longer yodel for unit discrimination or wear lederhosen shorts with suspenders, and feathers in their hats. They do however wear cowbells so that they can distinguish themselves from the enemy at night. If you are ever climbing a mountain pass near St. Gothard at night and hear the clang of a cowbell, and then a swooshing noise, you may be under attack. A tongue of flame will shoot out and your carbonized carcass will be found in the meadow as full of 1.8 cm holes as the local cheese. As far as the Swiss having nothing in their banks except space, I would say that US and CDN banks have less nothing than the Swiss. It takes smaller vaults, and is more efficient these days to hold smaller amounts of nothing at all. Eventually Banks will have no vaults at all, they will just be electrons racing about the planet. It is really not necessary to have gold above the ground when you know how much is in it. You can just imagine the gold you hold. If someone comes into your bank to buy gold, you just smile at him, take his money and tell him, "Done, Mr. Gstone, your gold is safe in our vault." If his friend, Mr Rubenstein walks in ten minutes later, he would just loan him your gold immediately anyway, and when Reubenstein sells it to Mr. Gold, why, Mr. Gold would return it to the bank for safekeeping, so why do all that moving around, when it never goes anywhere? And if it really never goes anywhere, why have it at all in the first place? This can be extended to war and other industrial operations. This can all be done verbally. i.e. "Imagine I have so many tanks and rockets, and how many do you have?" "Well I have more than you!" "No you don't." "how many can you imagine?" "A thousand million trillion, that's how many." "Well I have more than that by that many again, and besides they work better." etc .. etc.. You can call it Enron War. You might have to formalize it with referees and boards to account for resources. Or they could do it on the internet. It's a virtual world. BTW, do you really exist or are you a figment of someone's imagination? I am not being impolite, I am just curious to see if you are not actually a program. It is not really necessary to believe that you are a person, as that person will never actually materialize, so your form becomes entirely electronicfor all purposes. A personality is not really necessary. At any rate, a personality is perforce political, and has opinion, and since that could not possibly be the same as everyone else's, it is dangerous to trot it about. EC<:-}
