<<In 1999, there were only 154 justifiable homicides by private citizens. At the same time, 30,000+ thousand were killed by guns; 12,000+ by homicide alone. Seem like a good trade off to you?>>

It sure does when you add in the 2 million or so times guns were used for defense and never fired. 2 million VS 12,000.

You seem cause/effect challenged. But first, please provide the source of the statistics set forth in your first, second, and final propositions.

Guns did not convince people to commit suicide. If they didn't have guns they would have used drugs to overdose, jumped from a bridge, or found other means.

Some of those means, like illicit drugs or even lawful drugs obtained by unlawful means, already are illegal. Does that stop people from obtaining them and using them for suicide? No. Suicide is illegal, too. Does that stop them?

How many handguns are there in America? How many killings are there? Does your statement that handguns are only used for killing make any sense at all? No. None.

Handguns are used for things, such as collecting, target shooting, as a deterrent (never fired, but there), and sometimes for hunting, to name just a few. Nobody suggested you use one to turn a log on a fire. In fact, probably not a good idea.

Show your true liberal colors and stop trying to dictate others' lives and to limit their freedoms.

Speaking of suicides, you just don't know what you're talking about. Suicide is an act that a person does for many many reasons. People will commit suicide because that is what they want to do. It has nothing to do with guns. Guns are used more in the states because of a lot of reasons. But what the people who are anti-gun are missing either through design (an agenda) or by ignorance is that with or without guns, the same number of people will kill themselves anyway.

Apparantly the most common way to commit suicide worldwide is through hanging.

This is an article that helps explain some things:

It's not against the law to own a 747 Jumbo Jet. Why?

Speaking of suicides, having a gun in the house increases the chance of a suicide by 5x. Between 1993 and 1997, an average of
1400+ kids and teens committed suicide with guns.

In 1999, there were only 154 justifiable homicides by private citizens. At the same time, 30,000+ thousand were killed by guns;
12,000+ by homicide alone. Seem like a good trade off to you?

Handguns have one purpose: to kill. I've never seen someone turn a log on a fire with a handgun. You come at me with a poker, I've
got a good chance. You come at me with a gun, and I'm dead.

FWIW: your first amendment rights are in fact limited, in the specific example you gave. Similarly, your right to own dangerous
implements of death are limited. As far as I know, you can't own your own nuclear, chemical, or biological weapon, yet more people
are killed by handguns each day.

Gunshot wounds are the second leading cause of injury death to men and women between 10-24, behind only traffic accidents. Your
chances of being murdered increase three fold if you have a gun in the house.

For every self-justified shooting (self defense), there are 22 shooting deaths from suicide, homicide, and accident.

Read up and see if these assertions are correct.

BTW no one was killed by a gun. Do you blame the hammer when you strike your thumb. Of course not. Individuals are responsible, not inanimate objects.
