Well that's just it. The History books don't mention the fact that Arthur Pollens naval gun sight could have blown the German navies capital ships out of the water instead of the other way around.

Also Gallipoli could have ended very differently if the British Ships had blown away the Turkish forts faster. They just couldn't hit them with the duff sights they had.

This and other blunders were disasters for the British Empire.

I only learned this from reading some obscure book called "The great Gunnery Scandal" now out of print. It was a local library copy too and has since been chucked out. I'm looking for a copy of the book of course.
