Kevin,

I may be wrong, but I believe that hand guns are registered. If you own a gun, and it is used in a crime (and recovered by the police), I believe that the police can trace it back to you. Further, I believe that you cannot just sell you gun to any second party, it must be recorded and done thru a licensed fire arms dealer (with holding periods and background checks-though this may be a state law).

Geez Vern. Guns are registered when they are sold new or used unless it's an illegal sale. You might have missed the idea that there is also a 3 day for long guns and a 7 day for handguns waiting period while the feds do a background check on the buyer.
