I'm beginning to believe that there is a schism between Islam in its pure form and in the form practiced in many of the troubled countries. One of the interesting (and controversial) claims is that there are no original versions of the Bible left, and the handed-down translations have been corrupted. But, an original 7th century version of the Koran is claimed to exist, and the claim is that it came straight from God (Mohammed was simply a mouthpiece, apparently). As far as the blame game, I see that a lot in Christian religions, too. Maybe John Lennon was a prophet...
