<<escape the gloom you've painted?>>

i frankly don't think i've painted a particularly gloomy scenario. for self-indulgent baby boomers and the criminal class in silicon valley, the next handful of years will probably feel like Hell, but in any sort of absolute sense 1-2% GDP growth, 6%-ish unemployment, 4% bond yields and a stock market that goes somewhere between down and nowhere is hardly the end of the world. people's expectations of what they "deserve" to get out of life are so friggin' f'd up though. can you imagine; in my scenario people will have to: save; somehow get by with only 7k ft^2 of living space instead of 10k; cook at home instead of going to Cheesecake Factory every night; drive a friggin' normal car instead of blocking the sun with those damn super-size SUVs. i am hardly advocating gloom.

The chances that the US escapes this are IMO zero. People are seriously out of touch with reality, what really matters. All these bleached suburban baby-boomer a*&holes decying the loss of their guaranteed capital gains need to spend a day with the single mom of the shortstop for my Boston little-league team and get a friggin' clue.

Cheers

Edit: PLEASE nobody take this personally. just in a ranting mood today. we're 4 days late.....
