Definitely region specific. Two blocks from my house PCS worked great too. But my wife doesn't want to drive down the street to call family. And dealing with that organization (?) is impossible. They don't seem to have a clue about customer service.

Sprint PCS blows. I sit in an office in downtown Boston and half my calls get dropped within 2 minutes. Fairly regularly when I travel to NYC, I'll dial the phone and they'll say "you have tried to access the Sprint PCS network. our records indicate that you do not have an account with us. please call 1-800-we-suck to take advantage of our excellent service". how the f*&^% am i supposed to dial 1-800... when my friggin phone won't work!!!! <ng> And they just recently fired a ton of their customer service personel.

My sister got the service to cut out her long distance bills. They live off the beaten path a little, but its not like they're in the Ozarks or something (Gaylordsville CT). Phone doesn't work in the house; only works at the office and on the major roads. Yeah, that's helpful.

This is a just woefully run company and they are gonna get KILLED by churn starting in the summer. $ zero stock coming.

Cheers

I thought I'd stop lurking long enough to give another opinion on Sprint PCS.

We've been using their service for about two years, and have been quite satisfied. There are a few areas locally where the signal gets weak or will drop out, but they are not common. We travel frequently, and have used the phone all over the country. We may be the exception, but so far, the phone has worked in every major city we've been to.
