Any attempt by yourself to peel away that heavy veil of blind ignorance about American history since WWII (and thus begin to understand how and why we are here) should begin with a study of Nixon, whose achievements set the foundation for the fall of the Soviet Union, and the beginning of the historical era of the 21st Century.

I'd at least be a little curious if I were you. See why Carville, Gore and Clinton were lying to you. And it's a free ride...

Nixon played the China card and was an international relations genius. It's very popular to bash him. It's easier to do now, since he's dead and can't defend himself. Why not include Kissinger in your bashing, since they were hand-in-hand in what you obviously take issue with.
