The only someone that Israel trusts is Israel, for good reason.

Then why is Sharon bending to international pressure?

And you know I'm not a big fan of the UN Nadine...

I'm merely speaking of appearances, not reality, with regard to any belief they have the resolve to stick themselves in the middle of continuing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

But it will likely force the UN to shut the hell up, when the Israelis decide to REALLY OCCUPY Palestine (as the result of a state to state war) and rebuild it according to their own vision, and not Arafat's.

I'm just as cynical as you are about whether these two people can live together. I'm sure the Israelis would be willing, but its the Palestinian side that are the problem.

But right now they can generate sympathy for their cause. Sympathy that will likely be not as apparent should they get their state and continue their hostile actions against the Israelis and the UN.

I'm sure the UN leadership, being humilitated, would just proclaim a pox on both their houses.

But if both sides play their cards right, they can be the recipients of the biggest global bribe in history, as the rest of the world decides buying their way to peace is less expensive than letting these two parties drag the entire region into all-out conflict.
