I recall a variation of this discussion shortly after 9/11. There was a camp of people who had a strong sense of vengeance and another camp where vengeance was not much of a factor. I recall it being very interesting. I'm in the latter camp, myself. I recall that the two camps didn't appreciate each other very much. The same two camps, or at least a similar construct, seem to be present in this discussion.

Well, we could go up and down the line at the next candle vigil outside a death-house, and ask people what the victim's name was. I'd bet that nine out of ten wouldn't know. Maybe someone here could do that, and report back to us.
