has it occurred to you that maybe Arafat and many other Arabs are literally being held hostage by the terrorist groups and their supporters? I can guarantee you that the extreme Islamic fundamentalists apply their tactics of fear just as much to gain domestic support as they do to hurt their Jewish and Western enemies. Islam is one of the fastest growing religions for a reason, you know, and it's not because many of the converts really had a choice.

Ten, do you really think Arafat is an innocent victim in all the Palestinian terrorism in Israel? It seems to me that the terrorists have Arafat's tacit agreement.

Of course it has. Somehow, until a couple of years ago, I naively thought it was the case. However, it really isn't. There's no reason it should be the truth. You'd figure if any side would figuratively "hold him hostage", it'd be the stronger side, which is in this case, Israel. They've tried to help him rein in the terror- most of the weapons that the Palestinians have were given to them by Israel after the Oslo accords were signed, for the expressed purpose of fighting the terror. If Israel had seen that that was what Arafat was using them for, they'd have been glad to give him more. Unfortunately, the weapons that Israel gave to the Palestinians have been turned right back on Israel.

>it is my belief that Arafat is just a pawn in this tragic game.

The man is the father of international terrorism. I'd hardly call that being a pawn.
