"It believes retailers such as Home Depot (HD) and Lowe's (LOW) may seek out new sources of supply from Siberia, New Zealand, Brazil and other nations, and expects those new sources of supply to remain entrenched after such a duty expires"
And what of those high end products available mainly from Coastal BC. The duty protects no one, it only serves to push the end price up past consumer resistance. The home design people will begin to push different looks to allow for cheaper products. A market not likely regained.

' Following the recent U.S. steel tariffs, the U.S. Commerce Department went forward Friday with a new duty on Canadian lumber.

I gotta side with you folks to my north. While I don't have any evidence to show either way that your government is "illegally subsidizing" the lumber industry, I would tend to think US is fabricating this to rally support from it's citizens.

I love my country but fear my government
and
Question authority
Are two slogans I have always felt akin to. I do not have all the facts regarding the lumber industries of each respective country, but from what I have heard over the months, I have to say, I hope you guys stick it to us hard on the NG issue at every opportunity that comes along or those you can create!

believes retailers such as Home Depot (HD) and Lowe's (LOW) may seek out new sources of supply from Siberia, New Zealand, Brazil and other nations.....

Seems pretty stupid and costly if you ask me.

Best regards,
Your Brother to the south.
