Yep 37 cents, plus more coming as I heard it, was just the impetus I needed to go online for most of my bill paying, etc.

Now I just got to convince my bank that they need to do it for me free as a perk. It worked last time when I asked em to halve my trading commissions or see more money flee to online broker land.

"Post Office raises rates to 37 cents for first class"

and they will STILL lose $4B in the red.

may of my bills now come electronically. no paper bills anymore. that cuts into the volume of mail also.

why don't the USPS just raise the stamp price to $1? go ahead and take the death blow now, no?

same goes for T raising long distance rates. more calling via computer for $0.02 per minute any time any where in US. plus I saw add today for 5000 minutes on cell phone, free long distance, no roaming.
