Hi len,

The article said:
>"Most world religions originally preached intolerance of other religions."

Well the above is incorrect. All most all of the Eastern Religions, specifically the ones that origined in India i.e. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism have never preached religious intolerance.

For instance, the Gita (one of the central books of Hinduism) clearly says that there are many paths to God. While Buddha goes as far as to say that one should not dwell on the details of his teaching, but use them as just a boat to cross a river and discard them there after.

Finally, I have never seen any proof that the ancient Jewish text ever preached intolerance either. Please correct me here if I am wrong.

May be the sentence should be corrected to say that the institutionalized religions tend to perpetuate their institutions and thereby teach intolerance. Which would imply that it is the inititution that is at fault and not necessarily the religion itself.

Just my 2 cents.
