The wasteful driving habits of the public could change a lot if we had an administration that conservation
was the patriotic thing to do.

Typical liberal attitude. As soon as the government tells me what to do I will do it. Don't you have any brains of your own?? If you guys are so "patriotic" why not begin conserving on your own? Does Big Daddy have to tell you when to wipe? And, by the way, I do not recall the 1st. Sleaze during his 8 years telling all to sell their SUV's and conserve energy. Where was his patriotism?? Was Gray Davis waiting for someone to tell him it is patriotic to conserve??

<< Even in California, within ONE MONTH energy usage dropped 17% when the governor asked residents to cut back. It's still down over 10%. >>

Stop it. You're making sense. Right wingers don't like that. They prefer the Rush tactic of ridiculing anybody with a different viewpoint. Almost all of the wrong wingers here are Rush clones. They don't think on their own. They're nothing but parrots.

Notice how none of them will concede that the oil from ANWR will make an insignificant difference in our overall future energy use, even in the face of undisputed FACTS. It's all we are right and liberals are wrong, NO MATTER WHAT THE FACTS ARE. It's called irrationality.

You don't suppose that electricity price increases and a slow economy might also have played a part, do you?

MSI,

If I remember correctly, in addition to the Governor's asking Californians to cut back, rates were increased around 40%.
