It is take a lot of effort to sort it out but I think we should all be aware of some of the following:

CHU, the listed company, is the one reporting earnings today.

The parent company is China United Telecom, with Unicom Horizon being the main entity involved in CDMA development management.

We have to separate what is pertaining to CHU and what is Unicom Horizon. As an example, we know Horizon paid for the cdma network and is only leasing that to CHU.

As Great Wall leftovers subs, and are they included in CHU's number? It is probably a meaningless number because there are at most 500K of them and will soon be zero.

We are all aware of the handset supply problems. Until that issue is resolved, there would be no incentive for Unicom to finalize a marketing plan. Right now, we have some band-aid programs and before anyone sump to conclusions, I challenge them to tell me how many manufacturers, how many models, and how many handsets are available in each of the regions covering the 300 cities.

I think April 8 is going to be one telling date and there is some major telecom day in May.

As for cap ex, we need to understand who is talking, CHU or Unicom Horizon? Furthermore, were original expansions IS95 networks? Would all future expansion plans be 1X? The 7 trial cities are supposed to be all doing well.

We also know that the parent is planning a huge IPO for A shares in China.

I have no answers for most of the above. I guess I am just suggesting that many of the figures may not mean what you think they mean.

Ben,

what you did not point out is who the analyst is for Fulcrum.

They apparently only have two ranks - BUY or SELL. I am eagerly Waiting to see what they say about QCOM.

A hint: his initials are WP.
