To further escalate the problems I have with the article, is that I was contacted by AMD today and informed that AMD was never contacted in regards to this report on their own products. AMD had no input in the report, no chance to give the answers to Aberdeen similar to the ones that even I (or any educated PC enthusiast) could give to them.

If true:
With mobile p4m as low as that one would expect desktop prices to be even lower. It is going to drag down xeons as well.

So Intel's breadwinner is going to be Itanium? :-))

Re: Sounds like Intel will defend mobile share at any cost at least until Banais.

Maybe this is why Intel hasn't been able to "lower the boom" on desktop prices - they no longer have a profitable segment in which to hide while bombing ASPs in segments in which they face competition.

It takes a lot of the heat off AMD.

Intel is also sounding more and more desperate to hide the actual performance of their systems from buyers. Abergate being the best example.

If Elmer were right about Intel being able to easily ship P4s approaching 3GHZ, why would they have needed to fund Abergate?
