ROFLMAO.
How's it go? ... Ooooh, I'm losing my argument, so I'll try to get some reinforcements to come in and call Bill a racist.

Maybe we can have an E-longated discussion of your liberal guilt checkoff list. LOL!

I didn't watch the Oscars and haven't seen any of the new movies except for Moulin Rouge. I did see a clip from Halle Berry's speech (and a clip of Julia Roberts embarrassing herself.)

So having established that I am entirely ignorant of the movies involved, the performances involved, and almost entirely ignorant of the content of her speech, I do conclude that it had to to with black actresses having been denied recognition. I assume that the point was that they didn't get a chance at recognition because they weren't given significant roles, which is true, isn't it?

I don't know if that's a disgrace in the sense that any conscious decision to exclude was made by conscious racists. I think it's much more complex than that.

If her performance wasn't the best, I think she shouldn't have gotten the Oscar. If it was, I'm glad she did.

I suspect that if there had been fine films being made with fine leading performances by black actresses, those performances would have been fairly and without negative bias considered by Hollywood for Oscars for quite a few years if not decades.

So the question is why those films weren't made.

The answer would be, I assume, because those with the money to make the films didn't think they would make more money by making those films.

That includes blacks with money and whites with money, and there are plenty of both.

Edit: She mentioned a series of predecessor black actress whom she implied should have won academy awards. Were their performances stellar? Better than the competing ones? I don't know.

You're right. Minorities NEVER take advantage of their minority status. And particularly not to attempt to induce guilt in Causcasians. They are all noble gentlemen and ladies.

Sorry. I couldn't resist. I think that needed to be said.
