I don't want to be a victim either and I would probably try to spin my situation away from victimhood whenever faced with it. But probably not to the point of denying the meaning of the word. It seems to me that when one is a target of an effected attack, one is a victim, whether or not it hurts or no one accepts that it hurts. I don't see any shame in that. The shame is in victim scams, setting oneself up as a victim for gain. Stoicism can be admirable, sometimes.
